Our thanks to the team at Dealernews for their August featuredealernewslogoImage1250719178918 resized 600 story on Manheim Specialty growth.  The story is also available online.  A few highlights:

  • Approximately 50% of Motorcycle and PowerSports inventory sells online
  • Manheim Specialty growth this year includes expansion in Indianapolis (now 40,000 sq. ft) and Daytona Beach (now 45,000 sq. ft)

The entries are in, Manheim Indianapolis hosted the sale featuring the 2008 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide, and we have a winner!  Congratulations to Jimmy Wright, a dealer from Lavonia, GA, who nailed the sale price on the nose - $17,600 - and is our 'Guess the Bid Giveaway' winner.

"I'm not a Harley expert, but I know a little bit," said Wright, who is an active Manheim customer who buys motorcycles, jet skis, boats and other units.  "The Good Lord just blessed me."

Jimmy wins a trip for two to the July 25 NASCAR race in Indianapolis, including race tickets, airfare, hotel and $250 in spending cash.  He'll have a chance to see his favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson, in his quest to win a fifth consecutive NASCAR championship.

Congratulations to Jimmy, and thanks to all who participated in our 'Guess The Bid.  Get The Prize' contest.  Be sure to check out http://www.manheimspecialtyauctions.com'/ periodically for upcoming contest opportunities.  Customers may also register to receive monthly market reports featuring sale prices by sending an email to specialtyauctions@manheim.com.

The positive reaction to Manheim Indianapolis' February sale continues in this blog post from PowersportsIndustry Daily.  More than 400 dealers participated in the sale, which featured more than 500 vehicles.

The February Manheim Indianapolis sale was its Powersports Expansion Super Sale.  The auction location now features 40,000 square feet of auction sale and preview space.  Sellers included Harley-Davidson Financial Services, GE Money, Fifth Third Bank and many more.

Dealers may view upcoming sale information, sorted by location and category, with links to pre-sale inventory via the Manheim Specialty Auctions calendar.

Recent years have seen strong increases in Specialty auction dealer participation and vehicles sold.  With these increases come the need for larger facilities to host dealers and inventory and more ways for dealers to access inventory.

manheim specialty motorcycle auctionsManheim Indianapolis is doubling the size of its motorcycle and PowerSports auction space and is hosting a PowerSports Expansion Super Sale February 2-3, where it will show off its 40,000 square feet of auction space.

Manheim New York is doubling the size of its Specialty sale in 2010.  Manheim has committed to adding an additional Simulcast lane to allow the New York 17k location to offer double the amount of consignment during their regularly scheduled Specialty sale held the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

So as 2010 progresses, how will your auction habits change?  Do you plan to visit more sales in person?  Will you research and/or buy more units online?  Beyond trade-ins, how else will you grow your used inventory?
